Cocoa Nib Batch Roaster

The FRD C batch roaster was exclusively developed for roasting cocoa nibs with conductiv heating. In addition to the product quality and controlled aroma development as the highest maxims, flexibility and product safety were further key points in development.
Already the design of the machine signals that the focus is on product safety in all processes. Recommended HACCP/GMP directives are fully complied with. Additionally a pasteurisation and sterilisation phase integrated into the process ensure microbiological product safety. The produced humid thermal atmosphere guarantees a high sterilisation rate. Shortly before the end of the process - as a “finishing touch” the bacterial count is effectively reduced.
Incorporating our optional alkalizing reaktor FNA, the FRD C provides intense color development of the nibs using various reaction solutions.

1. FRD 2000/C with approx. 2000 kg/batch

Our cocoa nib batch roasters, type FRD C is equipped with the following features:

External heating oven with hot air distribution along the entire drum length results in even heat transfer to the product to avoids hot-spots.

Gentle mixing of the nibs in the drum resulting in a homogenous roasted product and allows even roasting with high moisture content.

Front gate with axial movement on a railway system, avoiding any jamming and wear.

Eliminating transmission-slip and wear due to differ-ential speeds after product discharge by connecting inner gate disc with the rotating drum (connected by a bar).

Drum rear of round cast design, without spokes, avoiding product deposits
